Start from a Template

Use Template gives you a working starting point in a few clicks. You pick whether you expect the market to rise, fall, or move sideways, choose one of a few common entry signals, and choose the trade to place. The template puts the strategy on the Canvas, where you can change anything.

When to use this

Use a template when you know the kind of trade you want but don't want to build it node by node, or write a prompt for the AI Agent. The result is a normal strategy: edit its conditions, change the instrument, add filters, backtest it, and save it like any other.

Use a template

  1. In the Signals AI builder, click Use Template at the top right, next to Help Center.

  2. Under Pick your market view, choose Bullish (expect price to move higher), Bearish (expect price to move lower), or Sideways (expect price to stay range-bound). Click Next.

  3. Under Pick a prebuilt signal, choose when the strategy should enter. Click Next, or Back to change your market view.

  4. Choose the trade the strategy should place when the signal fires, then finish the dialog.

The strategy appears on the Canvas with both entry and exit conditions, and the trade you picked is set up for it. Check both, then edit it as you would any strategy - see Building on the Canvas.

The Sideways trades are option-selling structures:

TradeLegs
Short StraddleSell an ATM straddle (ATM Call + ATM Put)
Short StrangleSell an OTM1 strangle (OTM1 Call + OTM1 Put)
Short Iron FlySell an ATM straddle and buy an OTM2 strangle as protection
Short Iron CondorSell an OTM1 strangle and buy an OTM3 strangle as protection
warning

Selling options (Sell ATM Put, Sell ATM Call, Short Straddle, Short Strangle) carries large or unlimited risk if the market moves sharply against you. The Iron Fly and Iron Condor cap that risk with the bought legs. Check the margin needed and add a stop loss before you deploy.

tip

A template is a starting point, not a recommendation. Run it through the Chart Preview and a backtest before you trade it.
