Executions Dashboard

The Executions dashboard is where you monitor signals after you deploy them. It shows every running Forward Test and Algo Trade signal, its mark-to-market (MTM) and open positions, and any errors - and lets you square off, switch to manual, and drill into each execution's trades.

Open the dashboard

Use either:

  • Signals menu → Execution (Algo Trade + Forward Test), or
  • the Executions link at the top of the Signals dashboard.

The dashboard has two tabs: Algo Trade for live, real-money executions, and Forward Test for paper trading. The Dashboard link next to them takes you back to the Signals dashboard. The header also has Help Center and Manage Plan.

note

On the Forward Test tab, all results are hypothetical: the trades run in a simulated environment and are never sent to a broker.

The summary strip

The top of each tab sums up everything running in that mode:

ItemWhat it shows
Total MTMThe combined mark-to-market of all executions in this tab
Broker MTM + Add SL/TgtMTM per broker, with an overall stop loss or target for everything on that broker - see Broker Level Settings
Today's MTM GraphOpens the Daily MTM Graph, with tabs for Total, NSE/BSE, DELTA, MCX and COINSWITCH
Open PositionsHow many positions are open now
Available Margin (View)Your broker margin (Algo Trade tab)
Margin Blocked (approx)Margin currently tied up in open positions
Include Brokerage / Taxes & chargesToggles that include costs in the MTM. You can edit the brokerage value

Trade Data is delayed. The dashboard shows trades at the end of each minute, so it can lag the live market by up to a minute. Your orders aren't delayed - only the display is. For real-time help, use Join Channel next to "For realtime support".

Find an execution

Executions are split into Intraday Strategies and Positional Strategies. Inside each section, they're grouped under Deployed on <date> headings, which you can collapse.

Each row shows the signal's name and underlying, Open Pos, its Status (such as RUNNING, PAUSED or ERROR), MTM, the Broker (Forward Test rows show FORWARD TEST), and the actions for that row.

To narrow the list:

  • Use the status dropdown (All Selected), or the quick filters Running, Paused, Sq Off, Error and Manual.
  • Turn on Show archived to include archived executions.

Archiving an execution hides it from this page and removes its MTM from the totals. It's temporary: when you refresh the page, the archived execution comes back.

Square off closes real positions on the Algo Trade tab. Check which tab you're on before using Square off all.

Execution details

View Trades (or View Error) opens an execution's detail page:

  • Header - the breadcrumb and name, View Strategy (opens the signal), and Having an issue? (to contact support).
  • Summary - Status, Open Position, Broker, Include Brokerage, Taxes & charges, Margin Blocked (approx), and MTM.
  • Timeline - Deployed, Last Unpaused, Entry Time and Exit Time.
  • Switch to manual for this execution.
  • Error box - when the execution hit an error, a red box shows the time and the broker's message.
  • Open Orders - Instrument, Qty, Order Details and Order ID.
  • Messages Window - a log of everything that happened, filterable by All, Info, Critical and Error.
  • Execution Settings - a plain-English summary of the settings in use, such as "Number of lots in each leg are multiplied by 1 (Quantity Multiplier)" and "Trade monitoring on Candle Close".
  • Running Legs / Closed Legs - the positions, split by whether they're still open.

To square off from this page or add trades you placed outside AlgoTest, see Square off all and Add External Trades in Broker Level Settings.

When something fails

Copy the text in the red Error box, or the error lines from the Messages Window, and include it when you contact support. See Debug a Signal.

Paused executions and Auto restart

Executions pause at the end of the market day. A paused execution has to be restarted on the next trading day to keep running. When any executions are paused, a banner at the top reads "Restart your PAUSED strategies".

You can restart them two ways:

  • Automatically - turn on Auto restart paused executions at the top right. Algo Trade executions restart on the next trading day once your broker is logged in. Forward Test executions restart at 8:30 AM on the next trading day.
  • Manually - click Restart on the paused execution.

This matters most for BTST and Positional strategies. They hold positions across days, so they need to keep listening on the following days to manage and exit those positions. Keep Auto restart paused executions on for BTST and Positional deployments.

note

For Algo Trade with an NSE or BSE broker, Auto restart waits for your daily broker login. If you don't log in, the execution stays paused.

History

History (top left; a clock icon on mobile) opens the history of past executions for the tab you're on:

  • Filters - Strategies or Portfolios, a strategy picker, Start Date, End Date and Index.
  • PnL - the total for the filtered period, with Include Brokerage and Taxes & charges toggles.
  • Calendar heatmap - daily P&L coloured Loss, Breakeven or Profit, next to a cumulative P&L curve.
  • Trade table - Instrument, Entry, Entry Time, SL, TP, Exit, Exit Time and MTM, grouped by date. Each strategy has Replay and Show Details.
  • Replay and Download .csv at the top right.
