Hidden Features on AlgoTest

AlgoTest has several powerful features that aren't visible at first glance but can significantly improve your trading experience. Here are a few such hidden features that give you better control, transparency, and shareability in your trading workflow.

Replay and Export a Trade

What is it?

This feature allows you to replay any past trade you've executed through Strategy Builder in the Simulator. You can also export that trade as a .clicktrade file and share it with others in your community.

Why is it useful?

  • Replay your own trade to understand what went right or wrong.
  • Export and share trades with your community so they can learn your decision-making process.
  • Import a trade into another AlgoTest account to simulate and review it.

How to use

Replay a Past Trade

  1. Go to Strategy Builder → Trade History
  2. Select a trade that you want to replay.
  3. Click on Replay & Export
  4. This will open the trade in the Simulator at the exact moment it was placed.

Export the Trade

  1. Click Export as .clicktrade file from the same menu.
  2. This will download a file you can share.

Import in Another Account

  1. On another AlgoTest account, go to Discretionary Trading → Simulator
  2. Click Import/Export → Import
  3. Upload the .clicktrade file
  4. The trade will now be loaded into the simulator for analysis.

This feature is ideal for community educators, team-based traders, or strategy reviewers who want to share exact trades and thought processes.

Order Slicing (for Advanced Users)

What is it?

Order Slicing automatically breaks large orders into smaller chunks if your order quantity exceeds the exchange’s freeze quantity. This helps prevent rejections due to exceeding the maximum allowed lot size per order.

Why is it useful?

  • Helps advanced traders place high-quantity trades without hitting exchange limits.
  • Ensures smoother execution of large trades.
  • Fully automated within AlgoTest; no manual intervention required.

How it works

Let’s say:

  • You want to sell 200 lots of a NIFTY straddle.
  • The NSE freeze quantity for NIFTY is 24 lots per order.

AlgoTest will:

  • Detect that 200 > 24
  • Automatically slice the order into multiple child orders (each ≤ 24 lots)
  • Place them sequentially when you click Place All Orders

Note: You’ll see a warning message stating that the order will be sliced. This feature only activates for large lot sizes and is intended for experienced users.

Replay Entire Algo Trade History (Symbol-wise)

What is it?

This feature allows you to replay all trades executed by an Algo for a specific symbol over a selected time period. It’s like visualizing what the Algo was doing day-by-day in hindsight using the Simulator.

Why is it useful?

  • Allows you to analyze actual Algo performance over time.
  • Helps you understand your Algo's behavior during major market events.
  • Enables trade reviews for compliance, debugging, or learning.

How to use

  1. Go to Algo Trade → History
  2. Select a symbol (e.g. NIFTY) from your past algo trades.
  3. Choose the time range (e.g. April 4 to April 10).
  4. Click Replay for that symbol.
  5. AlgoTest will load all trades from that period into the Simulator.

You can now:

  • Step through time using the Simulator controls.
  • Visualize trade entries, exits, MTM movements, and market context.
  • Understand how your Algo responded to events like volatility spikes or news-driven moves.

Auto Square Off On Margin Error

The Auto Square Off on Margin Error feature helps traders manage unexpected margin shortfalls. This feature automatically exits all trades when a margin error occurs in your account, helping prevent unexpected losses. By default, this feature is enabled, but it can be toggled off if preferred.

Payoff Analyser

The Payoff Analyser feature allows traders to visualize their positions, including key metrics like the Greeks, max profit, max loss, and equity curve, all in one place. This powerful tool helps traders better understand the potential outcomes of their strategies.

Add Leg / Square Off Leg

The Add Leg / Square Off Leg feature lets traders dynamically adjust their strategy while trades are live. This can be particularly useful when an unexpected market opportunity arises, enabling traders to add legs on the fly for additional margin benefits or hedging.

Broker Level SL / TP

The Broker Level Stop Loss (SL) / Target Profit (TP) feature allows traders to set these parameters based on the broker account used. This setting applies only to trades executed through AlgoTest and is not applicable to manual trades placed directly on the broker’s terminal.

No Entry After Time

The No Entry After Time feature helps manage re-entries by preventing trades after a specified time, providing control over strategy executions during market hours. This feature ensures that re-entries only occur within the predefined timeframe, avoiding unexpected trades late in the session.

Percentage-Based TSL And How It Works

The Percentage-Based Trailing Stop Loss (TSL) feature adjusts your stop loss based on price movements relative to the entry price. It helps protect profits by moving the stop loss level as the trade becomes more favorable.

Compare Backtest Feature

The Compare Backtest feature enables traders to compare different versions of their strategy backtests side-by-side. This helps refine strategies by testing various parameters like stop loss levels, trailing stops, and more, enhancing decision-making with clear historical performance data.
