Introduction​

Introducing BTST and Positional Trading on Signals for Indicator-Based Automated Trading.
Now you can automate your indicator-based BTST and Positional Strategies using AlgoTest’s Signals.

What is BTST and Positional Trading?​

Before diving into the specifics of this feature, let's explain the basics:

  • BTST (Buy Today, Sell Tomorrow): A trading strategy where you buy a contract today and sell it the next day before the market closes.
  • Positional Trading: A longer-term approach where you hold a position for several days or weeks. You enter a trade based on your strategy logic and wait until your exit condition is satisfied.

With AlgoTest’s new feature, you can automate these types of trades. Instead of manually monitoring the market and placing orders, the system will automatically execute buy and sell orders based on your strategy. This saves you time and ensures trades happen precisely when you need them to.

How to Set Up a Strategy for BTST and Positional​

Step I: Open Signals on AlgoTest​

Navigate to the Signals section in AlgoTest.

Step II: Create a New Signal​

Click on New Signal in the top-right corner.

Step III: Select Your Signal Source​

Choose where you want to listen to your Signal from:

  • TradingView Indicators
  • TradingView Strategy
  • ChartInk
  • Custom Scripts

Step IV: Choose Execution Type​

  • Live Deployment: Executes trades in the live market.
  • Forward Test: Simulates trades without actual execution.

Step V: Create or Select a Strategy​

  • You can either select a previously saved strategy or create a new one.
  • For this guide, we will create a new strategy.

Step VI: Configure a Positional Strategy​

  1. Switch the strategy type from Intraday to Positional.
  2. Choose your preferred instrument (e.g., Weekly or Monthly Expiries).
  3. Define strategy parameters, including:
    • Entry and exit conditions
    • Order types
    • Quantities

Step VII: Monthly Expiry and Stock Options​

You can also create Signals for:

  • Monthly Only Expiry Instruments (e.g., MidcapNifty, BankNifty, FinNifty, BankEx)
  • Stock Options

Step VIII: Save and Continue​

Save your configured strategy to proceed further.
