AI Tokens
AI tokens are a single balance shared by Signals AI and Agent 920. Every message you send to either agent spends tokens from the same pool - there is no separate allowance for each product.
Your balance is shown in the chat header as "X AI tokens", next to Buy tokens.
Tokens are counted in rupees: 1 token = ₹1. A plan that grants ₹2,000 gives you 2,000 tokens.
How you get tokens
Two sources, and they add together:
- Plan grants - credited automatically when you buy a qualifying plan.
- Buying more - at any time, in multiples of ₹100.
Unused tokens carry forward. A grant is added to whatever you already have rather than replacing it, and nothing expires at the end of a month or a billing cycle.
Signals AI grants
| Plan | Credited on purchase |
|---|---|
| 1 Month Signal Plan | 300 tokens (₹300) |
| 6 Month Signal Plan | 2,000 tokens (₹2,000) |
Signals AI is a paid product - there's no free tier and no free AI allowance. See Pricing & Plans.
Agent 920 grants
Agent 920 access depends on your backtest plan:
| Your plan | Agent 920 access | Credited on purchase |
|---|---|---|
| Free Backtest | Not available | - |
| Limited Backtest | Available | 20 tokens per 100 backtests in your plan |
| Unlimited Backtest - weekly | Available | 40 tokens |
| Unlimited Backtest - monthly | Available | 150 tokens per month of the plan |
Examples. A Limited plan with 500 backtests is credited 100 tokens. A 3 month Unlimited plan is credited 450 tokens on purchase - all at once, not 150 a month.
On a Free Backtest plan, Agent 920 is blocked outright and you'll be prompted to upgrade. Your balance isn't checked, because access is decided before the balance is.
Crypto
Crypto users don't need a backtest plan to reach Agent 920, but the plan grants above don't apply either - buy tokens directly and both agents work normally.
How chatting spends tokens
Every reply from either agent costs tokens, and the cost comes out of the shared balance.
- You're charged after a reply finishes, based on what that reply actually cost - never estimated in advance.
- Longer, more complex replies cost more than short ones.
- The model you choose matters most. See below.
When you run out
Before starting any new reply, AlgoTest checks that your balance is above zero.
- If it is, the reply runs to completion - even if the cost of that reply empties your balance. A reply already in progress is never cut off part way.
- The next message is then blocked, and you're offered the chance to buy more.
Your balance never displays below 0.
Choosing a model
Both agents let you choose which AI model answers you, from the model picker in the chat box. Every model is charged to the same balance, but they don't cost the same per reply - so this is the single biggest lever on how long your tokens last.
| Token burn | Models | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest | Gemini 3.8 Flash, Qwen3, GLM 4.7 | Everyday strategy building and quick edits. Stretches your balance furthest. |
| Moderate | Gemini 3.1 Pro (default), GPT-5.6 Sol | Balanced reasoning for multi condition strategies and backtest analysis. |
| Highest | Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Opus 5 | Complex, multi step reasoning - when you've decided the extra cost is worth it. |
For routine work - a crossover, a stop loss sweep, a timeframe change - switch to Gemini 3.8 Flash. The default, Gemini 3.1 Pro, is a middle tier model, so moving down a tier meaningfully increases how many messages you get from the same balance.
You can change the model at any time, including part way through a conversation.
Buying more tokens
Where: Pricing page → Add-on section, or Buy tokens in the chat header.
- Amount: multiples of ₹100 only.
- Payment: rupees only. AlgoTest wallet credits and plan credits can't be used to buy tokens.
- Platform fee:
min(₹100, 5% of the purchase), charged on top at checkout, plus GST.
| You buy | Platform fee | Tokens credited |
|---|---|---|
| ₹100 | ₹5 | 100 |
| ₹1,000 | ₹50 | 1,000 |
| ₹2,000 | ₹100 | 2,000 |
| ₹5,000 | ₹100 (capped) | 5,000 |
The fee is capped at ₹100, so larger purchases carry proportionally less fee. You're always credited the full amount - the fee is never taken out of your tokens.
If you run out mid conversation, you can buy more without leaving the chat. Once payment succeeds, the balance updates and you can carry on.
Where to see your balance
The same combined figure appears on:
- Your Profile page
- The Backtest page - including the Agent 920 chat header
- The Signals Builder page
The balance is shown as the page loads. It doesn't tick down live while you chat - refresh the page to see the current figure after a run of messages.
Frequently asked
Do unused tokens expire? No. They carry forward, including across plan renewals.
Does a new plan replace my balance or add to it? It adds. A grant is credited on top of whatever you already have.
Can I buy tokens with AlgoTest credits? No. Token purchases are rupee payments only.
Do Signals AI and Agent 920 have separate balances? No - one shared balance. Spending in one reduces what's available in the other.
Can support adjust my balance? Yes. AlgoTest support can raise or lower a balance independently of plan grants and purchases. Contact the support group if something looks wrong.
